Okay, so this is a bit short notice, but if you happen to be down near Preston Street on Tuesday morning, you may want to swing by the Overlay.TV offices and join us for the third Social Media Breakfast. I’m going to be doing a brief talk on Reputation 2.0, and what companies need to do to protect their rep in an online world.

The details of this week’s breakfast are here, and you can reserve your spot on our EventBrite page. Right now, our general admission is sold out, but you can put your name on the standby list.

Of course, I must also thank our sponsors, Chicken Farmers of Canada, who graciously agreed to help the event take place by providing breakfast, even though it’s not going to be chicken. You’ve probably seen them on Parliament Hill on Canada Day, or as the sponsors of Test the Nation a couple of weeks ago. Either way, you’re most likely familiar with their product, so show your support for their generosity by ordering a chicken sandwich at lunch today.

The breakfast will be at Overlay.TV – 80 Aberdeen Street near Preston and Carling, and starts at 7:30.

See you there!

After a far-too-long winter in Ottawa, we’ve finally emerged from our igloos and thawed our Molson Canadians just in time for the return of Third Tuesday Ottawa, which will be held on Monday, May 5. That’s right – it’s about topics so ahead of their time, it’s being held the day before.

If you happen to live in Ottawa, be sure to head down to the Clocktower at 575 Bank Street (downstairs), and see yours truly debating shiny new objects in public relations and which ones we should be paying attention to along with the distinguished Colin McKay and Brendan Hodgson. Here’s the official blurb:

“It seems that almost every day, we hear an announcement of a new social media tool, social network or open standard that the inventors tell us we soon won’t be able to live without. At this month’s Third Tuesday Ottawa, we have a panel of Colin McKay, Ryan Anderson and Brendan Hodgson to lead a discussion of which social media tools are most useful and which are just code looking for a reason to be.”

So, we’re going to try to acheive the optimal level of drunkenness (obnoxious, but not quite beligerent) and try to get to the bottom of all those new and fun toys to see what’s fierce and what’s a hot mess.

The full details are on the Meetup site at http://publicrelations.meetup.com/84/calendar/7816548/. It should be a fun time, and you might even learn something… I hope you can join us.

Thanks to Joe Thornley for continuing to bring us all together for a great event!

From the site:

Interactive marketing has transformed over the last decade, as email, search and social media strategies become mainstays and ne capabilities are offered by emerging channels. What does the near future look like as they innovate and converge, and how do you measure their success?

Should be a fun discussion with some extremely smart people. If you’re going to be attending ICE, drop me a line so we can meet up. The panel is in the Sky Room at 1:15 on Friday – I hope you’ll check it out.

See you there!
